How is Tridha different from the other, much-advertised
experimental schools in Mumbai?
The system of education at Tridha is not "experimental". It follows an alternate
system to the orthodox system being followed by schools in Mumbai, put into effect
during the British rule.
The problem with "experimental" schools is that they are just that - experimental.
Nobody has really scientifically tested or researched the education systems and their
impact on the child. They were borrowing a concept here, a philosophy there, mixing
Vedic maths with Apple software. Nobody really knew what the child was actually
imbibing and what the end result would be.
Rudolf Steiner based his education system on a deep understanding of the human being
and his or her place in the universe. At each stage in his development, the child -
whether a child in the UK or in India - goes through psychological and spiritual
changes which are reflected outwardly in a changing physical appearance. The Steiner
curriculum complements and thus fosters this development. It is a system which has
been used for over 8 decades now. And there are over 1900 steiner schools around the
world. Thus, though the pace and methodology differ, the children of Tridha will be
well equipped to learn independent of pressure and therefore be able to give the
board exams successfully. |

Hasn't schooling become a big business in Mumbai today?
How do you recognize the genuine educators?
Around the world, all Steiner
schools are non-profit making concerns. Tridha is run by the Indian Education Revival
Trust. This trust is a public charitable trust registered with the Charity
Commissioner under the Bombay public act, 1950.
The trustees at Tridha have
been instrumental in its founding and are very much involved in every aspect of its
running. In fact, the two of the founding trustees have their own children studying
in the school.
At present in rented premises, Tridha will soon move
into its own school building at Andheri. The plot has been purchased with the help of
donations and interest-free deposits from Tridha parents.
